Skolkovo Foundation Resident Prepared the Module for Google/Project Ara

Resident of Skolkovo Foundation Nuclear Technology Cluster – Intersoft Eurasia, DO-RA Project Operator has started to test a unique dosimeter-radiometer for Google/Project Ara smartphone project. The testing is performed using prototyping system based on the new Spiral-2 motherboard for Ara modular smartphone provided by Google to a limited number of module development contractors–participants of Project Ara Developer Prize Challenge.

Project Ara modular smartphone allows innovative companies with their own original developments like DO-RA module to enter the multi-billion world market of Android-based smartphone users. Moreover, Google Company has previously informed that the main work on the creation of different modules for their Project Ara phone will rest on the shoulders of third party development contractors. Thus, the Company hopes to develop the ecosystem of the modular smartphone opening the vistas for the creation of different modules for everybody.

Igor Karavayev, Skolkovo Foundation Vice-President, Nuclear Technology Cluster Executive Director: “DO-RA Project team invariably demonstrates the truly businesslike approach to the promotion of their idea through various market products. I am sure the Company’s new development will heighten interest in Google telephones and therefore its commercialization prospects are quite realistic”.

We remind you that it is not only a USD1ook prize and a trip to the USA provided by Google Company which is at stake in Project Ara Developer Prize Challenge competition. The competition grants a possibility of receiving orders for the production of the developments made by the competition participant companies.

For the participation in the project JSC Intersoft Eurasia team developed DO-RA Module line device with the readout electronics on the platform of the previously tested devices protected by the patents in Russia, the USA, Japan, China and other countries. DO-RA Module also makes use of the DoRaSi proprietary solid-state ionizing-radiation detector protected by the patents and manufactured in Russia.

The entire line of the compact dosimeters has a single brand – DO-RA (http://do-ra.com) widely known in Russia and outside it due to the fact that the representative of this brand, JSC Intersoft Eurasia, actively participates in the international exhibitions, publishes their articles in dedicated international magazines and is an active resident of Skolkovo Technopark (Nuclear Technology Cluster), is nominated by two grants of the innovative product development contractor.

About DO-RA Project:

The idea of creating DO-RA device was born on March 29, 2011 after writing the article on topic “Our Radioactive World”. Vladimir Elin first looked at the review of the dosimeters and radiometers in the Internet, then bought a couple of home-use dosimeters and disassembled them to see what’s inside there and then performed patent search for the idea novelty. It was at that time when it became possible to identify the useful model unique nature. It turned out that there were no peers in the area of the mobile phone/smartphone/dosimeter hybrid in the reviewed patents of numerous states. To be more exact, it is possible to say that the peers, certainly, were available but they did not describe the idea in the form used to develop the patent claim for the DO-RA device useful model and later – to receive Russian patent for dosimeter-radiometer based on the mobile phone/smartphone. Actually, this is where the DO-RA novelty lies – as of the patent search time and filing an application for the useful model there were no peers for such devices. That is why today Vladimir Elin currently has the priority for the novelty and reproducibility of DO-RA device useful model. The priority is dated June 24, 2011 and protected by Russian patent No. 109625.

The name DO-RA (ДО-РА in Russian) is the combination of the first two syllables in the words dosimeter-radiometer or DO-RA. The acronyms in the Russian and English spelling coincide which gives the device name additional recognition.
