Skolkovo technopark and is the operator of the Do-Ra project
has completed development of the new Do-Ra device prototype for iPhone-4, 4s. The goal of the developers of these prototypes was to conduct
full-scale testing of Do-Ra device in the field, in everyday life and in
emergency situations for people that are at risk of irradiation.
As you might know, in November of 2011, Russian scientist Vladimir Elin presented the first prototype of a unique mini device that measures radiation level at the international exhibit AtomEco. This device can either be built in into new models of smartphones or be used as a device that can be connected to a smartphone.
Do-Ra is operated based on special applications that were designed exclusively for it and licensed operating system, what is used by a particular type of mobile phone/smartphone. The device is powered from the regular phone or smartphone battery.
Now, an independent Do-Ra device with a radiation monitor (GM-counter) works through a regular audio-jack (a jack for head set). In the future, Do-Ra device will work through its own unique DoRaSi monitor based on (Si). It will function when connected to the Do-Ra device through USB or a mini USB port. Remote Do-Ra will communicate with a mobile phone/smartphone or Do-Ra elements thanks to electronic data transmission systems Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, or some other way by creating an combined mobile dosimeter-radiometer Do-Ra being operated by special softeware Dora.Soft
The developer of the device Vladimir Elin is confident that it will take its respectable place among similar domestic devices on the market: “It is worth noting that size has been the last thing to be considered when producing dosimeters-radiometers until lately. This became evident as a result of a recent marketing research that studied similar devices abroad done by a Japanese company DOCOMO and American company SCOCSHE. Most likely that is due to the fact that most devices were primarily developed for military needs and there was no need to work on design or size of the device”.

About the project
The original idea of creating the Do-Ra device was born on March 29th, 2011, after writing an article “Our radioactive world”. Vladimir first studied a review on dosimeters and radiometers on the Internet. After that, he bought a couple of domestic dosimeters and took them apart to study the insides. Then, he conducted research patent research to clear the idea. Here is when a possibility arose to identify the uniqueness of the useful model. It appeared that there are no similar projects as hybrid between a cellular phone, Smartphone and dosimeters-radiometers in studied patents of many countries. There were similar projects, but not in the form where it was possible to define a formula for a useful model of the Do-Ra device and later on, obtain a Russian patent for the dosimeter- radiometer device based on a cell phone/Smartphone. This is exactly where uniqueness of Do-Ra lies. There were no other similar devices for the period of the patent research and filing international application for the effective model. That is why Vladimir Elin owns the priority right for uniqueness and reproductability for the effective model of the Do-Ra device. The priority was granted on June 24th, 2011.
Name Do-Ra was born from first two letters from the world: dozimetr-radiometr or DO-RA. Russian and English abbreviations coincide, which facilitates additional recognition for the device.
