DO-RA Project at Qualcomm Summit in Hong Kong

The trip to the International Qualcomm 3G/LTE Summit in Hong Kong on the eve of 2013 was spontaneous but very successful. Mikhail Krylov, Head of Russia and CIS at Qualcomm, spoke to me in his individual manner at a meeting a few days before the summit: “Will you go to Hong Kong? The President of Qualcomm Incorporated will be there!” I did not hesitate to answer: “Of course, and when shall I go?” It is good, that you do not need to get visa to go to Hong Kong because the previous journey to Qualcomm Forum was a struggle for me. Maybe that is the reason why Asia is growing more rapidly, without visa restrictions for business contacts? So, there were no visa issues; however, the accommodation for Qualcomm turned out to be a problem. The hotels were all fully booked long before the upcoming summit and there was no place for us. I had to book the costly but beautiful Ritz-Carlton with the room on the floor 109. The view from the windows was stunning both in the day and at night, the room great, and the service amazing. Therefore, the stay at this expensive hotel paid for itself with the aesthetic feelings and impressions.

The first day of the arrival of delegates from all over the world turned out to be successful for me. So, Alexei Odinakov, my colleague, and I managed to meet all the directors of this company, as well as many long-standing telecom partners and developers of Qualcomm at a party that evening. The atmosphere was very open and friendly among the people from all over the world, of all ages and different positions in companies. The same evening, the most active part of the participants went on to the famous club ESCAPE. There we had a tremendous time, in high spirits...

The morning on December 5, was difficult physically, but eventually fortunate! Exactly at 9.30 a.m. Steve Mollenkopf, President & COO at Qualcomm, started delivering his report. About 1000 delegates were all ears listening to him, sometimes bursting into applause. It seemed to me from a distance that the President looked the same as Tim Cook of Apple; the same way unapproachable and not real to ordinary life. During his half-hour speech, I was considering how to get acquainted with such a high and inaccessible VIP person!? But when the report was over, I simply got up and went to meet him.

Speaking to Steve I was brief as though I was in the army: “I am the Russian inventor, came from Moscow. Here is my invention, the dosimeter-radiometer, for all smartphones and operating systems!”

I handed over to Steve the model of the DO-RA device with the exotic name “Yablo-Chups” (apple on a stick, described in my previous articles), and my business card. Perhaps at that moment I was the same way brief and convincing as the inventor who, according to a legend, while being in an elevator with a potential investor, managed to explain the essence of his ideas to attract the investor to the project in less than 1 minute. Here I saved 10-15 seconds!

In the afternoon of the same day I sent the instructions to Steve Mollenkopf on using the DO-RA device in the modification of “Silver Apple”. What struck me most was how promptly I received the feedback from the top manager of Qualcomm to my partnership proposal. Within an hour I received a letter to my e-mail address in which the President of Qualcomm thanked me for the Russian gift - radiation sensor in a form of an apple. The letter contained a brief reference to the European and Moscow offices on further work with the developers of DO-RA devices; also, the organization of a meeting with the President of the European Qualcomm and the management of the Russian office and the developers of the DO-RA device from JSC Intersoft Eurasia. The letter suggested that the application DO-RA.Soft, the DO-RA device itself and the DoRaSi sensor based on silicon (Si) should go through the certification process to be compatible with smartphones built on chipsets from Qualcomm. So, if it all will work out well, the great dream of the innovator can come true in the most positive form. Actually, Qualcomm produces daily 1.35 million chips for smartphones, tablet computers and other devices, where the DO-RA technology can be easily integrated, of course, after the certification and adaptation for chipsets!

The last day of the summit on 6th December went on in the active meetings and negotiations. I managed to get acquainted with the leaders of the largest electronics manufacturers in South-East Asia, such as AnyDATA, Sharp, SIM Technology, Phicomm, Britania, Cellon Commumications, etc. They all were interested in how the DO-RA device works and how this device can be integrated into smart phones and computers. As a result, during the summit I exchanged over fifty business cards. After I left Hong Kong on December 7, I was showered with offers of cooperation in the DO-RA project from around the world! A trip to Hong Kong was successful by 100 per cent, and the thing that worried me most was to survive the Apocalypse!

Some time later, exactly after 21 December 2012, we continued negotiations with the leaders of Qualcomm in Moscow and outlined the plan on integration of DO-RA devices and DO-RA.Soft programs which are now presented in 22 different languages of the world!
